WELCOME

Great Dunmow is an ancient market town in north-west Essex with an estimated population (2011) of 8,830. The Town Council consists of 18 members: 9 representing the North Ward and 9 for the South Ward.

Extensive public open spaces are administered by the Council, as well as the E.T. Foakes Memorial Hall, the Dourdan Pavilion and other buildings.

The Town Council actively defends, promotes and represents Great Dunmow – we are working hard to ensure the town motto of May Dunmow Prosper continues to be a reality in the future.

MAYOR’S MESSAGE

As the newly elected Mayor of Great Dunmow Town, I am delighted to lead the team into the next phase of the Town’s development.

I am delighted to announce that I have chosen to support Dunmow Cricket Club and Old Skool Youth Club. All Mayoral events this civic year will be raising funds for these wonderful local organisations.

We have a new Town Clerk and RFO, new Officers and, following elections, new Great Dunmow Town Councillors. I extend my welcome to them all and I look forward to working alongside them.

There is a new telecommunications system and an on-going development programme for Officers and Councillors. There is currently one remaining Councillor vacancy in the North Ward. Interested parties can contact the Town Clerk at townclerk@greatdunmow-tc.gov.uk

We intend to complete a major series of outstanding repairs and renewals throughout the Town, as well as regular updates on information and events.

Cllr Alex Armstrong
Mayor of Great Dunmow
June 2023
